Technical and Skill Clinics in Barcelona
Share our love for tennis
At Fit In Tennis, we run four different group tennis sessions in Barcelona where all players are welcome to join. The best way to sign up for these classes is on our Meetup Page.
All group tennis lessons include: tennis coaching, balls and other court equipment, court fee, showers, and a tennis racquet if you need one. Apart from free racquet rental, those players who wish to try a high-end racquet we rent 2015/2016 Babolat and Wilson models for 5-10€. In case of groups for beginners we might use low-compression tennis balls as they make it easier to learn. In 95% of classes we play on clay courts. We only use hard courts if clay courts are not available (due to weather or tournaments).
All group tennis lessons are delivered in Spanish or English, depending on participants.

Technical and Skill Clinics
During Technical and Skill Clinics we focus on only one element of the tennis game which could be: a technique in a specific stroke, body movement and weight transfer, footwork and reaction time, ITN Assessment, etc.
Currently, we run two technical and skill clinics:
Serve Clinics
Every Friday afternoon, we run SERVE Clinics for Beginners and Intermediate Players to learn correct technical skills of serving in tennis and tactics involving serving and returning like “serve and volley” or “how to get an advantage returning a point”. Serve and return are the two most frequent shots in tennis.
Practiced tennis skills
A lot of players struggle with their serving technique and feel they aren’t confident enough when serving. Instead of avoiding serving, start learning it right now.
Beginners will learn:
- The basics of serving in tennis
- How to improve on your ball toss
- How to achieve better coordination in serve execution
- How to get the ball in and secure your serve
- Other: stretching out, feet position, body weight transfer
Intermediate players will learn:
- Correct first serve execution: flat serve
- How to get more power into your first serve and hit aces
- Second serve execution: slice and kick serves
- How to secure a good second serve
- Other: pronation, jumping, directions of ball toss

Cancellation policy
When a participant cancels the lesson:
* There is a 24h cancellation notice. If you cancel later, you agree to pay 12€ or 10€ for the class. We would not charge you for the class only if you or us find a replacement player.
When we cancel the lesson:
* due to bad weather: if the situation with weather is unclear we would confirm or cancel the latest 1 hour before the class. If it’s clear it’s not possible to play due to weather we will cancel as soon as we know, usually 2-3 hours before the class.
* due to not having enough students who signed up: we run group lessons with minimum 3 players. If there is less players interested in joining the class (1 or 2) we either cancel the class or suggest other options like joining on another day, do a semi-private lesson, etc. We usually wait until 3 hours before the class to see if enough students have signed up.
ITN-based Clinics and ITN Assessments
Some of our group tennis sessions are based on ITN (International Tennis Number) and therefore they focus on the evaluation and improvement of the ITN.
What is ITN?
The ITN is a standard rating system for amateur tennis players who play regularly and represents their general level of play. The ITN is recognized internationally as a method of measuring the improvement in accuracy, consistency and depth of strokes.
Players are rated on a scale of 10 levels, from ITN 1 to ITN 10. ITN 1 represents a high level player (holding an ATP / WTA ranking or of an equivalent playing standard). ITN 10 is a player who is new to the game and beginning their competitive journey in tennis.
To find more information about ITN, go to Tennis Play and Stay.
Practiced tennis skills
During the ITN-based tennis lesson we will prepare you for the ITN On-Court Assessment which measures 5 key elements of tennis game:
- Groundstroke Depth (includes power and consistency elements)
- Volley Depth (includes power and consistency elements)
- Groundstroke Accuracy (includes power and consistency elements)
- Serve (includes power and consistency elements)
- Mobility
Therefore, during these sessions we work on consistency, accuracy, power, depth and mobility. You will mostly hit groundstrokes, volleys and serves.
